Mr. Carrithers was assigned to the USA Space and Missile Defense Command Future Warfare Center on 20 May 2002. He currently serves as the Deputy Director, Space & Missile Defense Battle Lab (SMDBL), Chief Concepts & Architecture Division SMDBL and also as the Space & Missile Defense Division Chief to the Army Capabilities Integration Center at FT Monroe, VA.

Mr. Carrithers was born in Bloomington, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1975. He entered military service in 1968 and was commissioned an offi cer in the Air Defense Artillery Branch until his retirement in 1992.

From 1969-1992, Mr. Carrithers served in key air defense command and staff assignments in the 32d AADCOM, 1st Calvary Division, US Army Europe & 7th Army, 8th US Army, and USA Training and Doctrine Command. Additionally, he served in key combat development staff positions at HQ TRADOC and the Combined Arms Center during the period 1983-1992. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Candidate School, Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and the Command and General Staff College.

Upon his retirement from the military service, Mr. Carrithers entered the defense industry. He served as the Marketing Director for Vector Research Incorporated in Ann Arbor, Michigan from 1992-1997 and later joined Coleman Research Corporation in Hampton, Virginia until he returned to government service in May 2002. Mr. Carrithers’ military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
